Rangnick left impressed by ‘fantastic’ Dean Henderson in training

Dean Henderson is certainly making a positive impression on Ralf Rangnick.

Manchester United’s goalkeeping room is probably the strongest in world football. For all their faults over the last few years, that’s one area of the park that the Reds have been good at.

It took guts to stick with David de Gea last term. At times, the performances were absolutely disastrous, but the club kept the faith in a man who has helped deliver so much success over a tough decade. They’re now reaping the rewards.

That does leave Dean Henderson in a predicament, though. This is a young man who just wants to be playing football week-in-week-out. His talent alone deserves as much.

Well, ahead of United’s game against Aston Villa, the manager met the media and he was full of praise for Henderson. Rangnick has admitted he was left impressed by the ‘fantastic’ United star, who has looked sharp in training in the build-up to this one – making some top-tier saves.

Check out what the gaffer had to say on Henderson here:

“Well, I told him that I would like him to stay because he’s a fantastic goalkeeper,” Ralf replied after being asked about Henderson’s desire to leave on loan, per ManUtd.com.

“In training yesterday, he had another couple of fantastic saves. I really like to have him on board, as one of three top goalkeepers.

This alone leads me to believe that Henderson storming out of training is already a thing of the past, which is only a good thing in regards to team morale and dressing room harmony.

Whether or not Hendo does leave on loan in some capacity, these positive words will definitely have him feeling good about his long-term future at Old Trafford.

The Englishman is more than capable of starting for a top Premier League side already – but he’s at that stage in his career where he simply has to be playing football regularly.

I guess it all depends on what De Gea wants. If the Spaniard is intent on sticking around for a few years yet, the writing may well be on the wall for Hendo. He does have a contract until 2024, though, so there is no immediate rush to make a firm decision on his future either way.
