Man United have been delivered some great news on the injury front.
Manchester United managed to overcome Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Monday night, during a hard-fought contest.
To be honest, Villa probably deserved to win the tie given the overall performance, but we’ll certainly take being in the next round despite not playing our best.
A trio of players would miss that match with various injury issues. Club captain Harry Maguire, dressing room leader Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
This morning, the issue was compounded in regards to Ronaldo, who apparently picked up an injury in training just yesterday…
However, United have been given a triple injury lift ahead of the league game vs Aston Villa, with Ralf Rangnick confirming that all three will be available for this game as things stand.
Check out what Rangnick had to say on the injury front here:
“I think they will be available,” Rangnick told ManUtd.com, when asked about Sancho, Maguire and Ronaldo.
“They only trained yesterday for the first time. Cristiano yesterday, Harry the day before yesterday. We have to wait for the final session this afternoon but as it seems right now they should be available for tomorrow [Saturday].”
It goes without saying, having Ronaldo available is the big one. We’ve not been playing our best stuff of late but with him in the side, you’ve always got an opportunity to score a goal or two.
Although he’s had his own issues this season, Maguire is still club captain and I’d argue he’s still half of our best centre-back combination alongside Raphael Varane. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him handed the starting job here.
Sancho has concerned me during his debut season at United – and it’s definitely not going according to plan. Although he’s scored a few goals recently, the overall form has been pretty hit and miss. Let’s hope he can start finding that consistency soon.
One thing is for sure. We’re going to have to play better than we did in the cup meeting between the two sides if we want to scoop all three points here.
