Raphael Varane is all set to fly to Manchester on Monday, to complete his move to United.
Credit where it’s due, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s work in the transfer market has been brilliant. The Baby Faced Assassin has identified his top targets, while the powers-that-be have gone out there and signed them efficiently.
The acquisition of Raphael Varane has massive potential, with the Frenchman leaving Real Madrid after a trophy-laden decade in the Spanish capital.
Now, we Red Devils supporters are eagerly awaiting Varane’s arrival in Manchester. Then, his United journey will really get going.
Well, Fabrizio Romano has offered us another update on when Varane is likely to arrive. Apparently, he’ll be flying to Manchester tomorrow, before having to quarantine. Then, he’ll complete his medical and finalise his Old Trafford move ‘next week’.
It’s stated that the star is ‘buzzing’ to sign as soon as possible, with his contract running for four years, with an option for a fifth.
Honestly, I never thought I’d be happier than United signing Jadon Sancho this summer, but this move for Varane could top it.
The need to find Harry Maguire a top-level partner is clear for all to see. Now, Solskjaer is just a few days from making that happen.
In a relatively cheap transfer, United are getting a player who is right in the middle of his prime, with the club hopeful he can make a major impact. Don’t forget that our main issues last term were defensive ones and if we can fix those while remaining just as prolific up the other end of the pitch, we have to be considered as genuine title challengers this season.
