Raphael Varane has heaped the praise on his new centre-back partner, Lisandro Martinez.

This squad is fighting for each other. The lads who were here last year seem to have their confidence back. Quite frankly, it has been superb to watch.
The gaffer deserves all the credit for that. He’s done well with the players who were already here – while making some brilliant signings also.
Perhaps the highlight has been Lisandro Martinez. After a shaky start, the Argentine has been nothing short of phenomenal. There’s suddenly no question marks over his height from some quarters of the media who were keen to bring it up…
Now, his new centre-back partner, Raphael Varane, has been full of praise for Martinez, labelling him a ‘very good player’ who he enjoys starting alongside.

Honestly, this partnership has been sublime. I’d say that Varane was the real surprise, given how stop-start his 2021/22 season was. The Frenchman has been fit more often than not and looking like the world class player he was at Real Madrid.
Martinez has been exceptional. You look at what he can do with the ball at feet and couple that with his sheer willingness to win at all costs. You can only be impressed by what you’ve seen and the way he carries himself.
What I love most is that both of these guys are relishing every second of being at United. Both want to restore this club to it’s former glory. As fans, that’s all we ask for.
