Raphael Varane hamstring injury ‘doesn’t look good’ – Solskjaer

Raphael Varane has a hamstring injury, the manager has confirmed.

Manchester United Football Club continued their Champions League great escape last night. Cristiano Ronaldo (who else?), scored an insane goal in added time to hand the Red Devils a point.

After that result, one more victory should secure our place in the Champions League last sixteen. With Young Boys at home still to come, dare I say it’s looking good?

However, it did seemingly come at a price. In the first 45 minutes, Raphael Varane went down with nobody else around him. The superstar Frenchman was clutching his hamstring area, which is never a good sign.

After the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would confirm the huge injury concern, just days before the Manchester derby. Our Baby Faced Assassin would say that it ‘doesn’t look good’…

This is what Solskjaer had to say in full here:

“First look at it he (Varane) felt his hamstring. We have to look at him tomorrow but he felt his hamstring as he ran there tightening up. So he didn’t want to risk anything. So the first assessment doesn’t look good but we will assess him again tomorrow and fingers crossed.” Solskjaer told the media, with the quote coming from Sportskeeda.

Obviously, if Solskjaer is intent on playing with a five-at-the-back, it’s now reliant on Victor Lindelof getting back fit in time after he missed the Atalanta game with a knock.

On top of that, Eric Bailly completed his first ninety minutes in a very long time, so whether he’s good to play again remains to be seen. You also have the poor form of Harry Maguire, which is a major concern.

Varane looked outstanding against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend so losing him for another prolonged period of time is a massive blow to our chances. I guess the good news is that we have an international break coming up after the derby, so that could give him an extra fortnight to try and get back fit.

Who can replace Raphael Varane if he’s to miss the man City game? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
