Marcus Rashford could get standing ovation from Anfield crowd, Andy Robertson says

Did you ever think that a Manchester United player, namely Marcus Rashford, would get a standing ovation from the Anfield crowd? Well, Andy Robertson thinks he could…

You don’t need me to wax lyrical about all the excellent work Rashford is doing for the local communities. This young man is an absolute inspiration for us all. He’s fighting parliament, working with food banks and the like, in order to ensure that no child in this country goes to bed hungry at night.

Well, Liverpool star Robertson believes Rashford could be the first United player to get a standing ovation at Anfield this season… Which is a bold claim.

However, Liverpool fans are humans, after all. They’ll find it hard, but they’ll appreciate the work Rashford is doing for everyone in England.

A standing ovation, though? I’m not too sure. They’ll maybe give him a clap of appreciation, but I’d be highly surprised to see The Kop End rise for a United player – especially a Mancunian born and bred.

Anyway, here’s the quote from Robertson:

“Once the fans are back in, Marcus Rashford could be the first United player to get a standing ovation here [at Anfield].” Robertson told The Times.

I’m not sure I’d want Liverpool to give him a standing ovation. The mutual respect is there, but that doesn’t take away from this fierce rivalry. It’s definitely a nice gesture and thought, but I just don’t see it happening anytime soon.

It’s hard not to like Rashford, who was named the PFA’s Community Award winner not too long ago. He’s a genuine, down to earth young man who just wants what’s best for the children in this country.

Credit to Robertson for coming out and praising Rashford because again, that mustn’t have been an easy thing to do – particularly when he’ll undoubtedly get stick from Liverpool fans for it.

For United, we’re just lucky to have such a brilliant human being at our football club. Long may that continue.
