Marcus Rashford named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week after hat-trick vs RB Leipzig

A stunning Marcus Rashford hat-trick vs RB Leipzig has led to the Englishman’s inclusion in WhoScored’s latest Team of the Week.

Rashford just can do no wrong at the moment. His off-field work speaks for itself while as a player, he’s getting better and better.

Manchester United’s number ten is leading by example as he looks to ensure his beloved Red Devils return to football’s pinnacle. Wednesday’s cameo performance against an in-form Leipzig side perfectly attests to that.

During that match, the 22-year-old became the quickest-ever player to score a Champions League hat-trick off the bench. He took just 27 minutes to achieve the feat.

Another incredible achievement is the fact that despite only playing thirty minutes, Rashford was the only United star named in WhoScored’s Champions League Team of the Week after said hat-trick vs Leipzig.

Their statistics-based metrics aren’t usually kind to substitutes, though Rashford has completely broken that mould this week. He’d score a mightily impressive 9.16 rating, only bettered by Kylian Mbappe and Joao Felix…

Rashford can be absolutely anything he wants to be. Let’s not forget that despite the fact he’s been within the first-team for a half-decade now, he’s still only 22.

He’s already racked up over 200 first-team appearances at the club, too. Availability is reliability. During his four full seasons at Old Trafford, Rashford has averaged 50 games-per-season. He deserves credit for that.

For me, Rashford scoring his first hat-trick is another string on his bow. He’s now developing that clinical edge that all top forwards need to have and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is another who deserves credit for coaching that out of him.

We have an unbelievably-talented player, who always turns up in the big games on our books. What’s even more important than that, though, is that Rashford is an incredible human being.
