Rasmus Hojlund is now starting to perform like we all know he can, with the Dane slowly silencing his doubters.
Over the summer, Manchester United spent big on little-known striker, Rasmus Hojlund.
The Dane, a massive Red Devils supporter, joined and immediately carried the burden of becoming United’s first-choice forward. That’s never an easy task, particularly for a younger player.
Hojlund’s Champions League form was exquisite. Goals galore. Excellent hold-up play. Real intelligence. Perhaps that competition was more aligned to the way Serie A football is played.
In the Premier League, the effort and tenacity from Hojlund has never wavered. For some reason, he received a real lack of service from his teammates for multiple months. A settling in period was required as his new teammates started to learn the way the forward likes to play the game.
However, over the last month or so, we’re seeing the real Hojlund. His energy levels are remaining just as high, though he’s now confident in front of goal. He has four in his last four, including some vital strikes that have helped his side secure some massive victories.
If ever there were any doubts about Hojlund, the striker is now starting to shut people up, slowly but surely.
The 20-year-old United starlet is finding his reds form at just the right time, as the club look to start pushing up the table and proving that they’re worthy of being named as one of the top sides in the country. Make no mistake about it, Hojlund is key to that, particularly as the issue in the first half of the campaign was a lack of goals.
As a striker for a big club, that’s what you’ll always be judged on. Though you have to love the overall game from Hojlund, who is more than just a finisher.
He’s the focal point for this attack. The hold-up play is excellent most of the time. His decision-making is always on point. The attitude is exemplary. Some teammates could learn a thing or two from the Dane, that’s for sure.
What I love most about Hojlund is the passion. Perhaps it’s the result of being a boyhood fan. Every time this team scores, you can see just how much it means to the young man. Those roars of passion, the pure delight in his face, the sheer desire and drive to win. It’s what you expect from anyone to be in such a privileged position.
We’re talking cult hero status. This is someone who has the potential to lead this line for the next decade-plus. No doubt that’s Hojlund’s dream scenario, while lining his trophy cabinet with some major pieces of silverware over that time.
At the end of the day, football is about enjoyment and entertainment. I just love watching Hojlund play the game. He’s a special individual who absolutely sparks joy. Long may that continue.
