Man United have been dealt further rotten injury luck, with Rasmus Hojlund the latest to succumb to a problem.

Manchester United and injuries. It has been the story of the season. Erik ten Hag has never once moaned nor cried about the issues, accepting that it’s just part and parcel of the game. However, it is mightily frustrating.

This week, we’ve learned that the club have lost Luke Shaw for what could be the remainder of the season, with the Englishman suffering a recurrence of a leg injury.

Today, the treatment table woes have been compounded. This time, it’s Rasmus Hojlund’s turn for a spell out injured. The official club website confirmed the injury blow earlier today, adding that the in-form United star has picked up a muscle problem.

Thankfully, the issue isn’t a massively serious one, though the star striker, who has seven goals in his last six, will be out for the next two to three weeks.

Hojlund has been the bright spark for United over the last month or so. To lose him could be crucial in our pursuit of finishing inside the Premier League’s top four. However, it’s certainly better to approach this cautiously, particularly as he’s still such a young player.

It does mean that Hojlund will miss the next few games at least. Those come against Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City. There’s also a chance he’ll miss games against Everton and Sheffield United before the March international break.

These are some massive fixtures. You’d assume United probably need to win four of those matches to remain firmly on the tails of the sides ahead of them in the table. Without their best goal source, it leaves me far less hopeful about achieving those results…

Get well soon, Rasmus.
