Manchester United managed to keep hold of David de Gea last summer, largely thanks to a dodgy fax machine and some incompetent last minute bidding from Real Madrid. However, their interest in our Spaniard remains very real.
That’s according to Spanish media outlet Cadena Cope (translated via Sport Witness). Negotiations will obviously be even tougher now, down to the fact that David de Gea has a new long-term contract at Old Trafford – which keeps the ball in United’s court.
What is odd about this reported deal is the fact that in an ideal situation, Madrid would like to loan David de Gea back to United for twelve months – presumably to keep Keylor Navas happy after a fine season from the Costa Rican.
This is just a bizarre claim, and silly season hasn’t even begun yet. It is obviously highly unlikely that Manchester United, Jose Mourinho or Edward Woodward will even entertain this idea at all… Welcome to the transfer window, folks!
