Manchester United have been offered first refusal on three Real Madrid players, as both teams look to freshen up their squads. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News.
Apparently, Jose Mourinho has been given the aforementioned option on Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
However, there is a caveat with that, with Madrid asking about the situations of David de Gea, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba; all of whom Los Blancos have an interest in signing.
If there was some sort of swap deal going down, I’d love to take both Modric and Kroos of Madrid’s hands. These are two world-class midfielders, and with Michael Carrick retiring, we’re already a man-light going into the off-season.
As for Bale, well, he’s far too injury prone for my liking. That’s not to say he isn’t a wonderfully gifted footballer, as obviously, he is. I just don’t think his price-tag would be justified due to the amount of time he spends on the treatment table.
Madrid wanting De Gea is nothing new, but United must do all they can to keep ahold of him. As for Pogba and Martial, neither have had fantastic seasons, and if the offer is right, don’t be surprised if Mourinho lets one (or both) of these guys go… Although he should expect to face the wrath of the Old Trafford faithful if he chooses to let Tony Martial exit.
