Real Madrid are still seemingly trying to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
The mercurial Frenchman’s future remains up in the air. Poor performances, resulted in Paul Pogba being dropped from the Red Devils squad, have only further fuelled that fire.
Let’s be honest, United surely would have expected better returns from Pogba when they broke a club-record deal to sign him a few years ago? I can count the world-class performances he’s put in on one hand. Simply put, that’s not enough.
Sure, a change-in-manager hasn’t helped but flashes of brilliance is all we’ve been given. Constant flirting with Real Madrid hasn’t helped his case while right now, I’d argue Pogba is fifth-choice in the midfield pecking order.
Well, a way out may still be on the cards. The story comes from AS, who state that Real Madrid are prepared to agree to a £258k-a-week deal to sign the star from Manchester United. That works out at €15m net per-year.
Their story claims that Pogba’s future is up in the air, and he could leave Old Trafford next summer. The story also sheds light on Real Madrid interest in Eduardo Camavinga, though Florentino Perez would prefer Madrid to sign Pogba instead.
So what now?
Well, Pogba will be here until at least the summer, but should United cash in on the France World Cup winner?
In our opinion, the answer is a resounding yes. We’re talking about someone who hasn’t shown us anywhere near enough quality to warrant a place within that first-team squad, while he brings way too much extra baggage along with him.
Sure, he’s talented. Yes, he’d probably go to Real and show us all his class. It just hasn’t worked out for him here, though, and we need to take care of ourselves first and foremost. Pogba is having a negative impact on this squad and the sooner he’s gone, the better.
