According to the Telegraph, Wayne Rooney is a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid, who’ll submit a £25m offer for the 28-year old in the summer. Rooney has featured heavily for Manchester United this season when fit, and he’s definitely been the best player in our famous red shirt this season.
The signing of Mata (if it were to happen of course) certainly opens the doors for Wayne Rooney to leave as they both play in the same position, but I’d rather Rooney go abroad rather than a fellow Premier League rival.
I also feel we’d do extremely well to get £25m for him with just one year left on his contract, if i’m being honest, I’d snap Real’s hand off if they offered that much.
Losing Wayne Rooney would be a huge blow for Manchester United, but the player now holds all the aces. Sadly I think its inevitable he’ll go, its just a matter of when. Will we run down his contract and lose him on a free in 2015? Or will we cash in come the summer?
