Manchester United are ready to meet the release clause of FC Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto, according to Spanish media outlet, Don Balon. The article states that the Red Devils aren’t alone in the chase, with London side Chelsea also keen on signing the 25-year-old.
His release clause currently stands at £36million, with Roberto one of the players that new Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is ready to let leave if the right bid comes in for him.
I like Roberto, and I think he’d be a solid addition due to his versatility as he can also play right-back if needed. This is a player who has performed at the highest level of football and played in some huge matches during his short career thus far.
On top of that, he’d bring an extra dimension to our squad, as we don’t really have a player with his type of skill-set. Roberto is great on the ball, an excellent passer and a tireless worker.
The fact that Chelsea are also interested tells you all you need to know about the calibre of footballer that Roberto is, and personally, I’m surprised that the Catalan giants are ready to cash in on him.
