Manchester United are in the FA Cup final, and are still in contention for a spot in the Champions League for the next campaign. However, according to several reports, Louis van Gaal will still lose his job when this season ends next month.
However, that claim has been quashed by the usually reliable Sky Sports News presenter Hayley McQueen, who says that the club are in fact preparing for life with the Dutchman in charge next season.
“If some of the papers are to be believed this deal with Jose Mourinho is already done and dusted.” Hayley McQueen told Football Fan Cast.
“I worked at the end of the season awards actually and having good relationships with people at the club, my understanding is that they’re all set for Van Gaal to take charge of the team next season. He’s even had a massive hand in the pre-season.”
At the end of the day, the board have a real decision to be made, but nothing should be decided upon until the end of the season. United could well finish this term with a piece of major silverware under their belt, and although its a slim chance, the club could finish in the top four next term.
Its understandable that United are planning for next season with Van Gaal in charge as he is still the current boss, but we’ll have to wait and see what materialises in the off-season.
