Manchester United are on the brink of capturing World Cup winning legend that is Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to the fairly reliable German newspaper, BILD.
The German had been quoted earlier this week, saying he was flattered to have been linked to Manchester United, but according to BILD, Schweinsteiger has decided to take the plunge and join United.
The deal to bring Schweinsteiger to Old Trafford is said to be in the region of €20m (£14m) which for a player of his experience and quality, would be a bargain. The German is believed to be signing a 3 year deal at United.
Of course, Schweinsteiger is 30 years old and has suffered with a few injuries over the last season or two. But to have someone with his know-how in the dressing room can only be a positive factor.
The move, should it happen, will see him reunite with his former manager, Louis van Gaal, who is looking to strengthen a squad that could only manage to finish fourth in the Premier League last season, as well as qualify for the group stages of this seasons Champions League.
United are also interested in signing Schweinsteiger’s Bayern Munich teammate, Thomas Müller. Müller is seen as a replacement for Robin van Persie, who is on the brink of a transfer to Fenerbahce
