Man United target, Joao Felix, is open to leaving Atletico Madrid in the January window.

Manchester United Football Club were typically linked with every name under the sun over the summer. I guess that happens when you’re amongst the biggest sides in the world.

One name linked was Atletico Madrid attacker, Joao Felix. The Portugal international, an immensely-gifted footballer, has fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone. Only a handful of clubs could even consider taking on Felix due to his high wages and hefty price-tag.

Now, it has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that the United summer target is ‘open to leaving’ Atleti in January. Furthermore, the club is ready to negotiate if the ‘right proposal’ comes in.

A lot can change in football over a short space of time. Felix is suddenly interested in a departure from the Wanda Metropolitano, but United’s situation has also changed…

Check out what Fabrizio Romano had to say on the situation in full:

João Félix was one of the priorities they had in the summer after that difficult moment at the beginning of August.” Romano told GiveMeSport.

“They had conversations with Atlético, but at that moment the club didn’t want to negotiate.

“Now the story is different because Félix is open to leaving the club. Atlético Madrid are open to letting him go if they receive the right proposal.”

With the Glazers looking to sell up, I just do not see them sanctioning any transfers of significance. Even a loan move for Felix would set them back a decent chunk of money. Money that doesn’t seem to be available at this point in time…

The situation for Ten Hag is tough. He needs bodies through the door, though they may not be coming… The Glazers do not care if United don’t make it into the top four now as they’re leaving regardless. Why would they dip into their own pockets to fix an issue within the club…?

It’s sad because Felix would be a huge addition to this squad. His versatility, natural talent and stylistic fit feels perfect. Sadly, though, I just don’t see it happening.
