Reported Man United target Jude Bellingham set to join Borussia Dortmund: report

Over the last few months, the hype around midfielder Jude Bellingham has been starting to build. The talented Englishman has been putting in some brilliant performances for Birmingham City. It became somewhat inevitable that Manchester United would be linked with a move for the midfielder.

We’ve covered the Bellingham rumours pretty extensively, with our latest update coming on February 13th from The Sun, who claimed that the Red Devils were prepared to pay up to £50million to sign the teenager.

Well today, reports from Germany, namely Bild, deal United a huge blow in pursuit of the midfielder. According to their story, and they’re rarely wrong, the midfield starlet is set to move elsewhere; Borussia Dortmund.

The deal taking Bellingham to the Westfalonstadion is set to be a club-record signing, for somewhere in the region of £30.4m (€35m). The quality of player they’ve had at Dortmund makes this record deal feel somewhat remarkable…

This is the latest case of an English, homegrown talent looking to move abroad to further their career rather than taking the big-money deal on offer in the Premier League. It worked for Jadon Sancho, so fair play to Bellingham who is seemingly following suit.

He’s still only sixteen, there’s ample time for Bellingham to make his impression on British shores. Although it stings to see Bellingham choose to move elsewhere, you can only wish him the best of luck. Who knows, perhaps we’ll see him wearing the famous Red Devils colours in the not too distant future…
