It comes as no secret that Manchester United are looking to sign a striker this summer. Jose Mourinho’s side lacked any sort of real goals output outside of Zlatan Ibrahimovic last term, who is now obviously injured. One name that the Red Devils have now been heavily linked with is Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian striker has set the Premier alight with his goals tallies over the last few seasons. At 24, he already has 87 goals in English football to his name which is an outstanding return – particularly when he hasn’t been playing for a side that’ll challenge for silverware every single year.
If United are interested, they certainly won’t have it all their own way. There has been plenty of reports linking him with a move back to his former employers Chelsea as well – meaning Mourinho must act fast.
Now Lukaku has spoken out about where his future lies, and he has confirmed that he will be leaving Goodison Park this summer. Then he was asked about whether he has made a decision between Manchester United and Chelsea.
“Staying at Everton? That’s not really an option I think.” Romelu Lukaku told Belgian reporters, as per the Manchester Evening News.
He was then asked directly whether he has chosen Manchester United or Chelsea, and Lukaku responded:
“No comment, I can’t say anything. I know where I want to go, but I will keep all the talking to by agent.”
In terms of a readymade striker to come to the Theatre of Dreams and start finding the back of the net straight away, I’m of the opinion that Lukaku would be right at the top of that list for me.
He’s quick, strong, brilliant in the air and he clearly knows where the back of the net is. My big concern is the fact that sometimes he tends to go missing in the games against the so-called ‘bigger clubs’. If he came here, that’d be an issue he simply has to overcome.
