Reported Man Utd target wants to leave current club

Manchester United are clearly in the market for at least one new centre-back this summer, and Louis van Gaal is after someone with a bit of experience to guide a relatively youthful set of defenders, including the likes of Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair.

One defender Manchester United have their eye on is the Argentinian Nicolas Otamendi. The 27-year old has been in stunning form for Valencia this term, and was recently named in the Liga BBVA Team of the Year.

Eugenio Lopez, Otamendi’s agent said:

“Nico will do everything possible to get out.

“He has a good rapport with the fans – but has the option to leave and further his career.”

His intentions to leave are clear, and at the moment we’re currently the frontrunners to sign Otamendi. He’d improve our starting XI vastly and with the added amount of games due to Champions League football returning we need at least one centre-back. Nicolas Otamendi would be a fantastic start.

Would Otamendi be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
