Rio Ferdinand names two players he’d love Manchester United to sign

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho chose not to invest in any new players in the January transfer window, with the self-proclaimed Special One opting to stick with what he knows. However, hopefully, we’ll see some new incomings when the summer comes around.

We’re without doubt one of the biggest clubs on the planet, and our spending power can be unmatched at times – just look at the signature of Paul Pogba during last summer, whom Manchester United eventually paid a world record fee for.

With the transfer window now fast approaching, United legend Rio Ferdinand has been speaking out about signings he’d love his former club to make. The Englishman has named two in particular, and they certainly excite.

“I’d love to see Antoine Griezmann at Old Trafford,” Rio Ferdinand is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror. “For four years running, he’s scored 20-goals plus for Atletico Madrid in Spain and has genuine class and ability.”

“I admire Douglas Costa of Bayern Munich. He’s an electric player with pedigree who is not always in Bayern’s starting line-up and he’d be worth paying big money for.”

Antoine Griezmann is definitely an interesting one. He’s a guy who has been linked with a move to Manchester United for quite some time now, but what an excellent acquisition it would be. The Frenchman is right up there as one of the best on the planet already, and to have him in our attack would only improve us as a side.

Douglas Costa of Bayern Munich is really making a name for himself this campaign. The talented Brazilian is now 26, and he has been in and out of the team in Bavaria – which could make him available to sign.

Who knows, though, and a lot can happen from now until the end of the season. Hopefully, our manager has big plans and we can land at least one marquee name.
