Robin van Persie has accused his Manchester United teammates of getting in his way in last nights 2-0 defeat at the hands of Olympiacos. Everyone in United colours had a quiet game, but the golden chance to rescue something fell to Robin van Persie, and he blazed his shot way over the bar.
Despite keeping up an excellent scoring record when he has played this season, Robin hasn’t been anywhere near the levels he was at last year. He was at the heart of everything good under Ferguson, and under Moyes he rarely seems to be getting on the ball.
“It was quite difficult because my team-mates are often in the area where I want to play,” the United striker said.
“That’s why I have to change my tactics. Unfortunately, they are often in my area.
“It was much too slow today and we only had one shot on target in the whole match against Olympiacos, which is far too little.
“Everyone is very disappointed.”
I understand that the dressing room is a frustrating place to be right now, but theres no need for Robin to come out and crucify his teammates the way he has done. He should be backing them and believing in them, but it sounds like he’s had enough with the tactics that we’re currently playing.
For all we know it could be a dig at Moyes and his coaching staff, and if the manager loses the dressing room, which is looking like its beginning to happen, he simply has to go.
