Manchester United’s out-of-form striker Robin van Persie is set to miss Holland’s first friendly during the international break, after suffering from a ‘minor injury’ according to his national boss Guus Hiddink. The 31-year old has had a very well documented injury-laden career, but this time, as long as it isn’t serious, isn’t the worst thing that could’ve happened.
Hiddink suggested that the injury is only a minor problem due to the fact that Van Persie did in fact train, but its nice to see that he is taking care of Robin by not risking further injury.
“Van Persie is not quite fit. He trained today, but he did not fully participate. I don’t think he will be used against Mexico.” Hidding said.
At the end of the day, the break will do Robin van Persie no harm whatsoever. He hasn’t been in the best of form at the moment, and he does look rather sluggish. Perhaps Hiddink has realised this, and is choosing to rest him for at least the first of Holland’s two games.
