Robin van Persie’s wonderful headed goal against Spain at the World Cup has been named television moment of the year. A pinpoint cross from Daley Blind was met superbly by the head of Van Persie, who somehow managed to score a lobed diving header to leave Iker Casillas stranded.
Van Persie’s header was the first of that demolition job Louis van Gaal’s Holland did on the Spanish, as they beat Del Bosque’s men 5-1.
Since then though, Van Persie has struggled to regain that form, and is nowhere near the level of the form he shown in his debut season at Old Trafford. Hopefully the best is yet to come, rather than it being behind him.
