Rojo leaves Carrington, on way to Everton ahead of £25m move: report

Deadline day always brings up a surprise move or two. Well, time is running out for Manchester United to strengthen the playing squad, though it does look as if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be moving on a fringe player.

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Marcos Rojo is on his way to Everton’s training ground ahead of a £25million move to seal his exit from Old Trafford.

This comes just hours after the 29-year-old Argentine was pictured arriving at Carrington for talks about his future… He’s now left the Red Devils’ training base and on his way to Merseyside.

For a player who has started less than 20 games over the last two seasons, £25million for Rojo is fantastic business by United. The 20-time Premier League champions have picked up this unwanted reputation of being notoriously bad sellers, but to get £73m for Lukaku and then this amount for Rojo, it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

At this stage, Rojo is United’s sixth-choice centre-back (at best). What’s the point in keeping him around if the club can get big money to let him leave rather than sitting around on the bench.

It also means more minutes for the mega-impressive Axel Tuanzebe who’ll be hoping to make his breakthrough over the next twelve months.
