Manchester United’s first pre-season tour game is finally here, with the Red Devils currently in action against Perth Glory.
The game itself was one the fans were extremely eager to see, particularly due to new signing Daniel James being involved in the starting XI (see the full line-up here).
However, there was one key name missing. Romelu Lukaku wasn’t even on the bench, which was an immediate cause for concern due to question marks about his future.
Anyway, journalist Samuel Luckhurst has the lowdown on why the star attacker was missing – as he claims Lukaku has a ‘small niggle’ and he was left out as a precaution.
Fortunately, the injury shouldn’t keep him out for long with Lukaku expected to be fit for the Leeds United game on Wednesday…
I’ve always been firm in my belief that getting a full pre-season under your belt is 100% key. If you enter the regular season injured, there’s a high probability you’ll be suffering from little problems throughout the campaign.
Hopefully, Lukaku does get some minutes under his belt on this tour and he keeps his head firmly on the matters at hand – as it can be oh so easy to get distracted with your future up in the air.
