Manchester United Football Club finally cashed in on Romelu Lukaku; although it took until transfer deadline day to do so.
Despite scoring 42 goals in 96 games at Old Trafford, the fans never really fully took to the 26-year-old Belgium international. Perhaps it was the lack of effort at times, or the horrendous first-touch. Maybe that’s why it ended so messily but I guess we’ll never really know.
Ole Gunnar Solskjer seldom used the striker as he had a preference for Marcus Rashford and a transfer always looked likely. In the end, I think this was the best outcome for all involved.
Well, shortly after sealing his move, Lukaku took to Twitter to send a classy, heartfelt message to the fans and everyone associated with the club…
This is a nice touch by big Rom. Sometimes partnerships just don’t work out but you cannot deny that Lukaku does have ability. He’s a class player in the right system and no doubt he’ll score goals for fun with Inter Milan.
In Antonio Conte’s system, he’ll be allowed to play directly through the middle and do what he does best; stick the ball into the back of the net.
Good luck in Italy, Rom! Go smash it. Once a Red, always a red.
