In the aftermath of Jose Mourinho’s sacking, Manchester United have come out with a point to prove. The Red Devils are back on track under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has steadied the ship remarkably.
Spare a thought for the self-proclaimed Special One, though. He’s now out of work and you cannot deny that he gave his all for this club. Unfortunately, it was his own stubbornness that cost him a job, however…
Romelu Lukaku’s start under the Baby Faced Assassin was somewhat of a slow-burner as he missed the first couple of games as he was away from United due to personal reasons.
Now, the Belgium forward has been speaking to the media, and amongst the topic of conversation was Mourinho. Lukaku was full of praise for the former United boss, largely due to the fact that it was he who gave him the opportunity to move to Old Trafford.
“I believe that Mourinho has done a lot for this
club. “ Lukaku told Eleven Sports.“He won trophies, so I have a lot of respect for him.
“He is the coach who signed me.”
At the end of the day, Mourinho’s had a very successful career. That simply cannot be denied. Sometimes, certain managers just don’t work out in certain situations and that seems to be the case here.
Everyone in that dressing room should have respect for Jose, even if they fell out with him during his time at United. He’s a winner and one of the best to ever do it. That’s something you cannot take away from him.
