Romelu Lukaku will not hand in Man United transfer request: report

The latest Romelu Lukaku story we covered from Corriere dello Sport actually suggested that the superstar Belgian was ‘prepared to put in work’ to force through his Manchester United exit.

Well today, we’ve been given a contrasting story. It comes from ESPN, who actually claim that the Man United attacker is not prepared to hand in a transfer request in an effort to force through a move to Inter Milan.

Apparently, Inter are trying to negotiate a deal that’ll see the 26-year-old move to the San Siro, although the Red Devils are holding out for a fee of around £80million – which is fair given that’s roughly what United paid to sign Lukaku from Everton two years ago.

Although the player is ‘open to the possibility’ of a move to the Serie A giants, Lukaku is ‘reluctant’ to speed up the process by formally asking to leave United during this window. He will join his teammates on pre-season tour next month if no deal is agreed. Interestingly, United play Inter on July 20th.

ESPN also state that United aren’t actively looking to sell Lukaku, who has scored 42 goals in 96 appearances for the 20-time Premier League champions.

At this point, I get the feeling that Inter will have to be busy in the selling department before they can even think about affording Lukaku. My honest opinion is that he isn’t going anywhere this summer and he’ll have to put in the work to take the starting striker job off Marcus Rashford…
