Ron Vlaar could sign for Manchester United

Manchester United need solid defensive options, and desperately. According to the Daily Mirror, Louis van Gaal could sign fellow Dutch compatriot Ron Vlaar either in January, or on a free transfer when his contract runs out next summer.

The 29-year old, nicknamed ‘Concrete Ron’, was one of the stars of the World Cup in Brazil. He was at the heart of a solid Holland defence, alongside Manchester United new-boy Daley Blind.

It was thought that Vlaar would live Villa Park this summer due to those excellent performances, but Paul Lambert managed to persuade the centre-back to stay for another year at least.

However both Arsenal and Manchester United are now considering making an approach for the former Feyenoord man, who has started this season for Villa just as good as he was at the World Cup.

Would Vlaar be a good addition? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.
