Ronaldo set for United return?

With Gareth Bale looking set to join Real Madrid, their ex-president Ramon Calderon has suggested that their star-man, and current no.7 Cristiano Ronaldo does not want to sign a new contract at the club. United have been constantly linked with Ronaldo, and surely would go back in for him if he became available.

Its public knowledge that the player isn’t 100% happy in the Spanish capital, and if Real do sign Bale for the £85m+ figure being mentioned, this could see Ronaldo fall out of the limelight.

Whilst speaking to talkSPORT, Calderon said:

“I know that he is not happy at all with the attitude and behaviour of the president,”. He continued. “He is asking for €20million net every season which is going to be difficult for Real to accept.”

“I think the president has all his eggs on the table just in case he can’t get the renewal of Cristiano. That is my impression.

“He’s afraid at some moment that Cristiano will say, ‘I am not going to go on’. That will be bad news for Madrid.

“I would like to see him retire at Real but now the situation is difficult. Let’s see in the next weeks or months if it can be sorted out and he can stay.”

The chances are that Ronaldo will stay at Madrid for at least one more year, but next summer he’ll only have twelve months left on his contract which would reduce his transfer price massively.

Signing a player of this calibre would also work wonders for Moyes, and it’d certainly win over any doubters the Scot currently has.
