Manchester United fans will now be even more hopeful that Cristiano Ronaldo will make his debut vs Newcastle United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pulled off the impossible, luring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford after twelve years away.

The now 36-year-old is still world-class, proving as much as he became the all-time top international goalscorer just last night. The Portugal international would strike twice, taking his tally to 111.

As Ronaldo scored a winner deep into added time to break Irish hearts, the jubilant forward would rip off his shirt before doing his trademark celebration. In doing so, though, Ronaldo would pick up a booking – which is good news for United in a roundabout way…

When the referee carded Portugal’s number 7, Ronaldo’s heart would’ve sunk. Now, the world-class superstar will miss his country’s next World Cup Qualifier against Azerjaijan.

For United, that’s massive. The late yellow card means he’ll likely be heading back to Manchester sooner than previously planned – meaning it’s now likelier than ever he’ll make his debut against Newcastle United in nine days’ time.

Solskjaer has often taken the cautious approach at United. If Ronaldo would have played next Tuesday, before flying into Manchester, there’s every chance the Portugal star would’ve been made to sit on the bench.

Now, though, he could be back here at least a few days earlier than previously scheduled. Those extra training sessions coupled with the extra rest means it’s all-but-certain Ronaldo will take to the field against the only club he scored a Premier League hat-trick against.

For the doubters, just look at what Ronaldo did last night. He’d score two injury-time goals to turn a guaranteed loss into a massive three points for Portugal. If he can have that impact at United, we’re going to be in the hunt for major trophies this season. Make no mistake about that.
