Wayne Rooney has today stated that if Robin van Persie were to join him at Manchester United, he would be an extremely welcome addition to our squad. The 29-year old Dutchman finished off the season as the golden boot winner after he found the net 30 times in 38 league games.
“Of course he’s a player that I admire,” he continued. “He’s a fantastic player. He’s been amazing for Arsenal over many years. Last season was probably his best season of all. He scored a lot of goals. If he does come here he would be a great addition to the squad.”
He was then asked whether the two could form a partnership that could be deadly in front of goal, he replied “I’d like to think so – but you’d have to ask the manager about that.” There’s a lot of forwards here already with myself, Welbeck, Chicharito and Berbatov, who’s still here. So there’s a lot of forwards fighting for a place.”
Arsenal are thought to want somewhere in the region of £25million for their star striker, with United only set to offer around £20million, I still think that the Dutchman will end up at Old Trafford before the season starts though, we will just have to be patient.
