Rooney issues statement

Wayne Rooney has today released a statement in response to his Twitter bio not containing the words “Manchester United player”, although interestingly he doesn’t mention anything about his United future whatsoever. To me, this sounds like a player who is unsure about his future, who knows where he’ll be come next season…

If his United future was a certainty, you’d expect Wayne to come out and say that he’s not going anywhere, or at the very least deny the fact that he’s handed in an informal transfer request. He doesn’t do either which all but confirms the fact that he probably does want to move on in the summer.

I lost all love for Wayne the first time he decided he didn’t want to be at United. The only thing different to last time is that the club are the ones in control of the situation, which is he way it should be all the time.

Statement in full:

“There’s a load of rubbish being written about me changing twitter bio saying I have deleted Manchester United from it.

I have never deleted Manchester United from the bio whatever the papers are saying because it was never on there. All that happened was that I was asked by Nike to add @nikeuk to it – the same as many other sportspeople they sponsor. Funny, no-one’s written about that though!

That change was made THREE weeks ago and yet people are talking about it as if its something that was put up yesterday..”
