Wayne Rooney is set to fly home from Thailand tonight after sustaining a hamstring injury, ruling the striker out for around a month. This means that the England international will miss all of pre-season, and quite possibly the start of the Premier League season as well.
This news is surely set to spark fresh rumours about his Manchester United future, and I suspect many United fans wouldn’t be too bothered if the 28-year old has played his last game for the club.
Manchester United released the following statement:
Following a scan this evening on a hamstring injury sustained in training, it has been decided that Wayne Rooney should return home immediately for further assessment and rehabilitation.
