Silly season is now in full flow, and the transfer window isn’t officially open yet! Earlier this week Manchester United were linked with a move for Everton’s James McCarthy by Sky Sports News – an article that was later removed by the aforementioned news broadcasters.
Today former United legend Roy Keane, has urged James McCarthy to reject United (if an offer does come in), and stay at Everton for at least another season.
“He’s only been at Everton two minutes,” Keane told the Irish Times.
“He’s obviously making good progress but I’m pretty sure that with Manchester United there’ll be talks of lots of players going there at the moment but James is at a good club in Everton.
“He’s had a decent couple of seasons and if he keeps progressing then who knows but I’m sure he’s happy where he is.”
At first the rumours linking us to McCarthy made me wonder what on earth are United thinking? Going from Kroos to McCarthy in a matter of hours was all rather deflating. The worst part is though, James McCarthy would actually improve our current midfield.
Whilst I highly doubt that this transfer is indeed legitimate, I wouldn’t mind James McCarthy at United if it involves Tom Cleverley going the other way.
