Man United have been urged to make a move to sign Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.
Yesterday was a strange one. Manchester United supporters would show that fan-power is still all-important, by protesting and eventually ensuring that their game vs Liverpool would be called off.
For the majority, it was all done with the right intentions and peacefully. Sadly, a few people took that too far and that’s why our game was abandoned.
In the end, that left Sky Sports without live football to show. Instead, they’d debate a variety of topics – including Manchester United’s transfer plans.
As per usual, United legend Roy Keane wouldn’t hold back with his thoughts. He stated that Harry Kane and Jack Grealish should be the Red Devils’ number one targets going into an all-important summer window.
We’ve been here before with Kane, so we’d like to focus on Grealish. Keano has urged United to make their move for the top-class 25-year-old, claiming fans would love him while he’d also swap ‘Grealish for Pogba tomorrow’.
Check out what Keano had to say here:
“I’d also go for Grealish – I think United are still short of that special player, I think Grealish would give them that. He’d enjoy playing at Old Trafford, I think the fans would love him.” Keane said live on Sky Sports, transcribed by the Manchester Evening News.
“What I admire about Jack, I think he’s got great courage on a football pitch, he’s great in tight areas, over the last year or two, his end product has improved, he’s an excellent player.
“I think Jack would be ready for Man United. Villa are a big club and they’re doing very well, but I think Jack, we talk about players being selfish, Harry Kane being selfish – well, Jack has to be selfish and look to step up to the next level.”
“I’d swap Grealish for Pogba tomorrow, absolutely Of course (they can all play together). Why not?”
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Grealish has the swagger that’s required to play for Manchester United Football Club. I genuinely believe that footballing arrogance would serve him well here, while he’d obviously bring another dimension to our play.
Goals, assists, leadership, a winning mentality. Grealish would fit in perfectly at Old Trafford and if this transfer was a realistic possibility, I’d be all over it.
The problem is that Villa aren’t going to want to sell and with Grealish tied down to a long-term contract, he’d probably cost somewhere around the £100million mark. I just don’t see United spending that sort of money at the moment.
Would I swap him for Pogba? If it came down to that, then I probably would. Obviously, I’d prefer to keep them both at the Theatre of Dreams, particularly if the Frenchman keeps up the sort of form that he’s displayed over the last six months. However, United haven’t gone anywhere close to a title with Pogba at the heart of the team, if I had to choose, I’d want to try something different.
I understand that’s going to rub some fans up the wrong way, but that’s football. I just feel Grealish was born to become a Manchester United player as he has all the required tools.
