Man United are seemingly still looking to add some extra quality in midfield, with Wolves’ Ruben Neves still a target.
Ruben Neves is a name Manchester United fans are becoming increasingly familiar with. The Portuguese midfielder has often been linked with an Old Trafford switch over the years, including this summer.
You seem to get the impression that United wouldn’t be against adding some extra quality in midfield, providing the right player comes around. Well, Neves is firmly still on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar it seems…
According to 90min.com, the 24-year-old midfielder remains ‘of interest’ to United, though the Reds hoped that sales would cover his price, which is under £40million.
What’s intriguing here is that it’s claimed Wolves are ‘open’ to the sale of Neves for the right offer. This tells me that if United stump up something close to the asking price, then the Portugal international would be pretty easy to sign…
It’s stated that Solskjaer doesn’t want to sign anyone deemed a ‘short-term fix’, which does make sense. They’re willing to wait it out and acquire them at the right time, just as a move for Jadon Sancho materialised.
Sadly, it’s not all good news. 90min.com state that United are ‘anticipating the potential loss’ of Paul Pogba next summer, with a list of replacements already drawn up. It’s firmly reiterated that this is a different list, and not related to a possible midfielder deal they are looking at right now.
I like Neves, I think he’d be a solid addition, providing some competition to the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred. If the price is right, this is a deal that could be an astute one, though it’s unlikely to happen until players are moved on permanently.
