Manchester United Football Club gave birth to yet another talented youngster just over a year ago, with Marcus Rashford bursting on the scene against FC Midtyjlland. The Red Devils have been handing first-team appearances to the young man ever since.
This season has been much more of a struggle for the man from Wythenshawe, and his goals to games output isn’t anywhere near as good as it was under Louis van Gaal.
However, a key reason for that is the fact that Rashford has often been played out on the left-wing. Obviously, we have Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line now, and that has meant limited starts as the leading striker.
One former Red, Ryan Giggs, has leapt to the defence of the young man. The Welsh Wizard has claimed that second seasons can always be tougher, but he still likes him and believes Rashford should be starting every week.
“He’s still a young player and second seasons can be really difficult,” he told Goal at a Premier Futsal event in Delhi.
“You’ve seen it with so many young players. I think he is still exciting and he can be a match-winner still. He’s just been inconsistent. I like him and would pick him in my team. He will only get better.”
We are really lucky to have him as one of our own and it always feels much more sentimental when a homegrown guy gets himself on the scoresheet. Marcus has been absolutely sublime for club and country since he burst onto the scene, and long may that continue.
