Ryan Sessegnon rejects new deal amid Fulham interest

Just over a fortnight ago, we covered a story from Sky Sports News which claimed that Manchester United had made contact with Fulham in regards to a potential move for Ryan Sessegnon.

Last night, Sky Sports handed us another update on the future of the talented 19-year-old, as they claim that Sessegnon has told Fulham he will not be signing a new contract at Craven Cottage.

With one year left on his current deal, Fulham can either keep ahold of the left-back and lose him for free next summer, or cash in now while he still holds some transfer value.

Sky’s report states that Tottenham Hotspur is Sessegnon’s preferred destination as he’d like to remain in London. And although Spurs are interested in the player, no official contact has been made.

This could present United with an opportunity to swoop and attempt to get the deal done while they’re leading the charge.

In my opinion, this would be an astute deal. Luke Shaw has virtually no competition in the left-back slot so why not bring in a young up-and-comer who could push Shaw for the starting job, with a view to taking over in a couple of years.

Sessegnon would be cheap, while the Englishman will be hoping to prove people wrong as his debut season in the Premier League didn’t go according to plan whatsoever…
