Sancho a top Man United target, Old Trafford is his preferred destination: report

Manchester United need a huge summer transfer window, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer going to need time to build this squad into one that suits his preferred style of play.

The rumours are already swirling about who the Red Devils could sign this summer, with the BBC’s David Ornstein now getting in on the act.

It’s worth noting that Ornstein has been superbly-accurate with Arsenal transfer stories over the years and it seems as though his United sources are now getting stronger.

While speaking to BBC 5 Live Sport, Ornstein addresses United’s main priorities going into the summer, but the most intriguing story to me is Jadon Sancho.

He says that Sancho is a top United target, with the 19-year-old preferring a move to Old Trafford rather than anywhere else. However, the lack of Champions League football is a concern to him – while the player also wants stability…

Ornstein went on to add that this deal was looking ‘nailed on’ a couple of months ago, but obviously United’s hopes of finishing in the top four have diminished since then.

Sancho would be a brilliant signing, there’s no denying that. I hope United get on this one early and try to persuade the Englishman to come back to the Premier League, but I do have my concerns.

The other two names Ornstein mentions are Kalidou Koulibaly and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Apparently, the Reds could be put off by the former’s price, while the latter has already reiterated his desire to remain at Crystal Palace next season.
