Sander Berge is keen on a Man United transfer this summer, as the Reds continue to push to acquire the Norwegian.

Manchester United are now on the hunt for a new midfielder, as the Red Devils look to bolster their numbers in a key area of the field.

The chase for Manuel Ugarte appears to be all but over, with the Old Trafford side now pushing hard to bring in Burnley’s Sander Berge.

It could potentially be a fast-moving transfer as the Red Devils look to get this deal done before the start of the Premier League campaign in just over one weeks’ time. Now, The Sun have provided a vital update on the pursuit.

According to their information, United are ‘continuing their pursuit’ of Berge.

The Reds could offer the player a £100k-a-week deal, with the midfielder said to be ‘excited’ about the prospect of joining Man United during this transfer window.

However, that will only happen if United get somewhere close to Burnley’s £30m asking price.

The Turf Moor side were relegated from the Premier League last term, with United currently only willing to offer £20m to sign the 26-year-old.

There can be no doubt that this would be an astute piece of business by United if they could somehow pull it off, though with money still tight, the Reds may have to raise funds by player sales first.

As a result, this is a saga that could go right down to the wire, particularly if United are still intent on allocating funds to bring in players like Noussair Mazraoui and maybe even Matthijs de Ligt. If the budget will not stretch that far, then it’s decision time for Erik ten Hag, who may have to choose which one of those three positions he’d like to prioritise.
