Interest in Scott McTominay is growing, though Man United have turned down early offers for the midfielder.
Manchester United Football Club have made their first signing of the summer in the form of Joshua Zirkzee. For other big names to follow, there’s a general feeling that the Red Devils will have to sell before they can buy.
The Old Trafford side have several fringe players who could be up for transfer, including the likes of Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood and Scott McTominay.
Although the latter proved his worth last season by scoring some valuable goals, he could still be sold if he doesn’t fit into Erik ten Hag’s plans.
The Manchester Evening News have now provided an update on McTominay’s future, claiming that United have rejected early bids for the midfielder, amid ‘mounting interest’ in the player.
McTominay, who earns £60k-a-week (Capology), has a winding down contract. His current terms expire next year, so he could be available in a cut-price deal for anyone who wants to acquire the midfielder this summer.
Apparently, United view McTominay as someone with ‘high value’ to the squad as things stand and while Galatasaray have expressed an interest in signing the midfielder, it is doubtful any Turkish club could match his valuation.
It’s also dependent on McTominay wanting to leave. There’s absolutely no guarantee the player will want to depart this summer. He could even remain at Old Trafford and have his pick of the clubs next summer if the Scotland international allows his contract to wind down.
Honestly, I’m not too fussed either way. If he leaves this summer I wouldn’t be crying myself to sleep at night. However, if he stays around, we have an excellent rotational option available for another season.
