Scott McTominay sends message to fans, speaks out on injury battle and goal award

Over the weekend, Manchester United were in the headlines for the right reasons – after playing some excellent football, winning their fourth game in five.

However, an injury to Scott McTominay marred things somewhat. Seeing the influential midfielder get carried off the field on a stretcher in the dying embers was a low-point, while the 22-year old also got his goal taken off him by the dubious goals panel.

Anyway, fast-forward a few days and things are starting to look up for the ever-improving United graduate. McTominay has since been handed the goal once again, with the Scotland international taking to Instagram to explain he’s working hard to get back out on the pitch as soon as possible.

McTominay’s goal was his third in twelve Premier League games, which is a pretty nice record for a so-called holding midfielder. Strikes from that area of the field has become a rare commodity for the Old Trafford club over the years – so it’s nice to see a bit of output in that regard.

In the immediate aftermath, we covered a story from The Metro in which it was claimed that McTominay would be sidelined for four weeks.

That’ll mean McTominay will miss matches against Sheffield United, Astana, Aston Villa, Spurs and Manchester City before returning before the hectic winter schedule.

The international break has seemingly fallen at a good time – but hopefully, he’ll be back sooner than that…
