Scott McTominay is ready to call time on his Man United career, after telling his friends he’d like to leave.
Manchester United Football Club should be expecting another huge transfer window, full of dressing room changes. Whatever happens in regard to ownership, the Red Devils need to back Erik ten Hag.
The word on the street suggests that the initial transfer budget is around the £100m mark. Further funds could be generated by player sales.
Well, one man who is ready to walk out of Old Trafford for good is Scott McTominay. That’s according to Football Insider.
Apparently, the United man has ‘told friends he wants to leave’ the club this summer, for the good of his career.
The 26-year-old has fallen down the pecking order, starting just four Premier League games since September. McTominay, understandably, wants regular playing time at this stage of his career, where he’s supposed to be at the peak of his powers.
West Ham and Newcastle are among the clubs keeping an eye on McTominay, going into a massive summer transfer window.
No doubt United will be hoping to fetch a good fee for McTominay, should they choose to cash in. The Scotland international has a deal until 2025, with United holding the option to extend that by a further twelve months.
At this stage, a transfer feels like the smart play. United are doing well in the midfield area, with Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Fred all playing their part. Kobbie Mainoo doesn’t feel like he’s too far away from regular minutes, while a new central player could also be signed this summer.
If United could generate a sale in excess of £25m, this could be excellent business for a man who has been at the club since 2002.
