Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed Scott McTominay for his excellent performance vs Spurs.
Manchester United Football Club needed a result. My, did they get one. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer definitely got a response from his players at White Hart Lane yesterday – and it was nice to see.
From the first minute, our Red Devils just looked bang at it. They were winning their 50/50 battles, working hard and performing as a unit – which is in complete contrast from last time out.
Picking a Man of the Match was actually a tough task due to some top performances all-round. In the end, I settled on Scott McTominay who was outstanding in midfield.
After the game, manager Solskjaer also heaped the praise on the United star, who bossed it vs Spurs. The manager went on to add that McTominay was ‘unplayable’ during this one.
Check out what the gaffer had to say on McTominay in full here:
It’s hard to disagree. Outside of a couple of excellent, marauding runs forward, it was an outing of genuine maturity from a man who looked like one of the best in the business in his position.
McTominay was winning tackles, making clearances and keeping it simple with the ball at his feet. It reminds us all that on his day, McTominay is more than capable of competing with the top level midfielders. It’s now about finding that consistency.
I think the fact that he had a back five behind him definitely helped. There’s less pressure on him to do the defensive work, allowing him to play as a genuine box-to-box midfielder. Perhaps Solskjaer has found a formation that allows him to get the absolute maximum out of his best players.
