Manchester United Football Club had an extremely average month of September. Wins were few and far between while good performances were even more scarce.
Nominating players to win the United Player of the Month award was tough, though it would be Daniel James, Mason Greenwood and Scott McTominay battling it out for that right.
Yesterday, the official club website confirmed that it’d be McTominay who wins the September award, and rightly so as he was our most consistent player throughout the last four weeks or so…
Looking at the stats above, it’s easy to see why. The 22-year-old tops several statistical categories, that’s before you factor in his sublime goal against Arsenal on Monday night.
McTominay has seriously kicked it up a notch since being exposed to regular first-team football, and right now, the Scot is by far and away the Red Devils’ best option in that defensive-midfield/box-to-box role.
In a forgettable month, McTominay has been arguably the only bright spark. He fights for the badge, fights for his teammates and shows a real commitment to the cause. Several could learn from his attitude, making him a worthy winner in the end. Hopefully, he’ll continue to grow and improve and perhaps his teammates in and around him will lead by his example.
Congratulations, Scott!
