Sergio Reguilon is apparently close to joining Man United, with the transfer window now starting to really hot up…
Just this morning, we covered a story from Fabrizio Romano, who stated that United were see to submit their opening offer for the 23-year-old ‘soon’.
Now, a claim has been made by Brujula del Deporte, namely journalist Edu Pidal; and it’s a big one…
Apparently, the £36k-a-week star (Salary Sport) is ‘close to going to Manchester United’ as the Reds look to strengthen their playing squad.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that the only addition made to the squad (so far) is Donny van de Beek. I don’t doubt the Dutchman’s talents. However, there are still many holes within this squad…
Check out the tweet from Brujula del Deporte here:
This is a pretty bold claim. The Spanish media outlet is practically suggesting the deal is done and it’s only a matter of time.
With Sevilla confirming a move to sign a left-back just yesterday, you do feel that United are the main contenders to land Reguilon.
The left-back would represent an upgrade in a key position for United. However, it would feel pretty harsh on Luke Shaw, who has improved over the last twelve months.
For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it’s about doing what he can to make this team better. Reguilon would certainly do that, and at a pretty reasonable price, too.
My main concern is the insistence of some sort of buyback clause for Madrid. If Los Blancos won’t sell without one, I’d probably advise against the transfer. After all, what’s the point in signing and developing someone, for another club to come in and swoop whenever they feel like it?
Reguilon being close to signing for Man United certainly excites, but it only seems like a good deal under the right circumstances.
