Sergio Reguilon has sent a heartfelt message to the fans as he leaves Man United.
Manchester United Football Club have utilised the loan system more than they’d probably like over the last couple of seasons. Money is tight under the Glazer regime, while injuries have played their part.
From Wout Weghorst, to Sofyan Amrabat, with a little Sergio Reguilon in between, Erik ten Hag hasn’t shied away from signing players on short-term deals in order to plug some holes.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that Reguilon would now head back to Tottenham Hotspur after playing eleven times for the Old Trafford club. Seven of which were starts from August to January.
The Spaniard always gave his all for the Red Devils badge on his chest. From that left-back slot, Reguilon offered genuine production and boundless energy. For that, we’ll be forever grateful.
That gratefulness is mutual, too. As his contract break clause was activated, Reguilon took to X to send a heartfelt message to the United fans, and the club on the whole, to offer his thanks.
Check out Sergio Reguilon’s emotional X post here:
It has been great to play for Manchester United and I just want to say thank you to the club, the fans and my teammates.

It was a privilege to play for this huge club.
I wish all the best for the Red Devils. pic.twitter.com/HpD2XbRqM6
Although it was short but sweet, Reguilon definitely made a positive impression, at least to me anyway.
The Spaniard looked good and did exactly what was asked of him while both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have been out injured.
Sadly, the lack of European football on offer in 2024 probably meant that this decision was made a few weeks ago. There’s just not enough space in the dressing room to keep Reguilon around due to a drastic reduction in possible games.
Shaw is now back and Malacia is not far away, so this was always going to be the decision that was made here.
I wish Reguilon the absolute best for the future.
Thanks, Sergio.
