Sergio Romero has been spotted in Man United training, amid his Red devils future looking insecure.
Dean Henderson was sublime for Sheffield United last term, which swiftly led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finding a place for the Englishman within his first-team squad.
That’d leave Sergio Romero out in the cold. He’s far too good to be third-choice at Old Trafford, which makes his desire to leave the club completely understandable.
United would deny him that opportunity, as a move to Everton looked all-but certain. Now, the Argentine is being kept at the Theatre of Dreams against his will. To sum it up, it’s a pretty sad situation for a player who has emerged as a fan favourite over the last few seasons.
My opinion is that United have treated Romero awfully, which sums up the way the club is being run at the moment. Why not just let him go with our blessings? Get his wages off the books and allow the 33-year-old to go and play regular football elsewhere.
United seemingly wanted more money to let Romero leave and it will probably come back to bite them on the behind.
There has been some good news today, though, with the United star Romero pictured in Reds training for the first time this season. Thanks to the official @ManUtd Twitter account for the snaps.
Thankfully, Romero is no longer training alone and is at least working with Lee Grant. I get that the situation is different due to many first-teamers being away on international duty, but he shouldn’t be made to work on his own under any circumstance.
I just hope that the dispute between club and player is resolved sooner rather than later. It’s a sour situation and Romero has been a brilliant servant for us. Simply put, he deserved better.
